The forum was down for a few days (6/27-6/29) for some major maintenance. Out hosting server was getting old and slow, plus I was having some FTP problems with it, so GoDaddy offered to migrate all my files to a newer server. The upside is that users should not see any difference (well, maybe a bit faster). The downside is that GoDaddy could or would not touch my database files. The forum software, phpBB, relies on a lot of database tables, so I was not looking forward to moving the data myself. (I am NOT an SQL expert, not by a long shot). I had to do a database backup, delete the database, migrate the files to a new server, create a new database, restore the database then change the config in the forum program to point to the new database. Phew! The restore did not go smoothly and I had to do surgery on the SQL files, but it appears that everything is working again.
Please tell me if you run into any problems.
